The CCL-EC approved a plan to start a youth program under the banner of CCL and sent a request to the LMC members for approval. Its a great pleasure to write that LMC members approved the request unanimously.
Benefits of the youth program can not be enumerated and I hope all of us are aware how important it is to plant the seeds of new cricket playing generations in Colorado. This youth program will give more meaning to the CCL efforts and I am planning to put cricket next to youth soccer in Colorado.
Here is the text of the motion that was presented: The youth program of the Colorado Cricket League will be called "Junior Colorado Cricket League" it will be abbreviated as JCCL. It will be headed by a director appointed by the CCL president and approved by the CCL-LMC. The director will serve on this position unless replaced by another one for whatever reasons deemed important to the CCL-EC of the time, with the approval of the CCL-LMC.
Each CCL member club will be required to pay an extra 50$ a year towards the development of the youth cricket in Colorado under the auspice of CCL.
Our vision is to establish a Junior Cricket League, by next year and in few years have an under 20 team participate in the CCL league games.
In the motion I also mentioned my would-be candidate to head the program, Mr. Dan Ruparel. Dan has done wonders with the Colorado Youth Program and won the ICC award for the same program too. Dan is also director of the Youth Program of the Central West Cricket Region of USACA. The LMC members acted proactively and approved his nomination before I could present it. So, Dan will head the program.
Youth Program Director’s immediate assignment
I am planning to request Dan to put up a practical plan to start a Junior Cricket League by next year and identify about 10 individuals (at least 1 per club) whom CCL gets certified for youth coaching and that we get the ball rolling. The youth program director will also need some administration. I request him to let myself know and I will see what CCL can do. For the time being CCL-EC can fulfill these administration needs.
Long Term Vision:
A self sustaining youth cricket program spread across Colorado with youth clubs as part of existing CCL member clubs and independent youth clubs.
Develop a youth Under-20 competitive team to play in the CCL regular season.
Short Term Vision:
Help each club have at least one certified coach for youth cricket. CCL will try to bear charges for their certification.
Help CCL member clubs to establish their junior teams.
CCCC has a demand for such coaching right now.
Establishment of Youth Cicket League under the auspice of Colorado Cricket League:
o Such a league can function indoor.
o Louisville Cricket ground can be used for youth games (why not ?)
The program must be self sustaining and we must not look to ICC or USACA for any help, because we just won't get any. In the start I think if we ask every CCL member club to pay an extra 50$ per year to the CCL youth cricket (7 * 50 = 350 $) that will get us going. Also, if we do not get good sponsorships then the individual youth teams have to bear the financial burden of running the youth league. Our immediate needs are youth equipment and fields.
I look forward to each one of you for support and help in making this a success.
