President's Report on the 2008 season

Another successful and one of our most busiest (94 games - 22157 runs scored for 1261 wickets) cricket seasons for CCL has come to a close and I want to take this opportunity to thank all members for their participation as well as their support of the EC, CACU, SC and LMC in conducting CCL business.
The 2008 season was focused on introducing a lot of cricket to our players in the form of a parallel Twenty20 League with the Premier League, and then ending off on a high note by the Twenty20 Knockout Tournament. I'm happy to say that we were able to accomplish this successfully (Thanks to the committee members that came up with the format) as we had 8 teams participate in the Premier League, and 5 in the Twenty20 League, and 6 in the Twenty20 KnockOut Tournament.
As happy as I'm with the fact the the regular league teams participated even in the Twenty20 League format, I'm really appreciative of the efforts of FCCC to pretty much have (for most part) a full fledged B team.
We tried to get RMFCC back in the fold, and also one of the Tennis teams to be part of the T20 League & KnockOut tournament, but they were not ready for this season.
CACU played an immense role with major contributions coming in from Gopal Susurla in bringing in some discipline to our League with fair rules and regulations, and we are appreciative that our CCL teams did their best.
Again, we have had quite a lot of cricket for our Tennis Cricket League that has continued to flourish playing all season long, and our glad that some of them have made the switch to regular cricket, and have increased the level of competition for the colorado teams. Its also impressive to see that the Tennis League has organized themselves with their own Management Committee. The credit for organizing and managing the Tennis league goes to Raymond Mascarenhas, who is indeed a great asset to our league.
The highlight of our season was the emergence of LCC as a team that is geared for the Twenty20 format, and were crowned the Champions in the Twenty20 League. Also, after a couple of losses in the Premier Leauge, CCCC came back with a vengeance and were crowned Champions in the Premier League, and later were also the undefeated Champions in the Twenty20 KnockOut Tournament. FCCC and CSCC tried hard to be Champions and their efforts were commendable.
Amit Bahri, Ganesh Sharma, Randhika Fernando, Rupesh Muthyala were able to accomplish their maiden centuries, while others like Shailesh Patel, Keyur Amin, Narayan Madabusi, Nishant Soni & Kervyn Dimney were able to create or equal cricket records.
If you take a look at our POTWs and their accomplishments during this season, our players have indeed had a good season and have enjoyed their cricket. We've had some amazing performances and have been fortunate to be highlighted in Cricinfo, DreamCricket, giving CCL and its players the exposure that it deserves. We've also had some of our clubs such as BCC, UNM and CSCC get some coverage on TV and/or local Newspapers, and we want to see that happen more often.
As usual, as we have lost quite a few talented and dedicated cricketers from CCL, we have also been fortunate to attract fresh talent, some of the names that are top of my mind are Altaf Ahmed, Tarun Godha, Sai Kishore, Sachin Reddy, Jasdeep Gandhi, Murugappan Meyyappan, Nishant Soni, Drumeel Thakkar, Srikanth Desai. Our rookies have made an impact this season while increasing the level of competition for the colorado teams, and we expect more from them in the future as it grows stronger and brighter.
I also thank Rajesh Solanki for his monetary contribution to CCL Cougars through the Tennis Cricket 6's, and for being the CCL Selector at the CW; Max Ali for his monetary contribution towards the CCL Cougars entrance fees, for donating his umpiring fees towards the CCL Treasury, and for being available to umpire games at moment's notice; Kit's contribution in paying for the CCL Cougars uniforms, and Dan's contribution in procuring the LCC ground for the Cougars practice sessions.
Its unfortunate that our Colorado Cougars had a dismal performance at the 2008 CW Tournament, but with 2009 as our year to host, we will definitely prove ourselves to us and the rest of the region that we are worthy of being Champions. Our standouts were Rajesh Solanki, Rohith Ramkumar and Vamshi Kyatham. We are very proud of our Cougars and expect them to continue performing well. We have also been represented at the CW and senior level this season by Rohith Ramkumar, and at the U-19 by Dharam Patel. I'd like to thank Dan Ruparel for being part of the CW U-19 Selection committee.
CCL thanks the Selection Committee of Sam George, Max Ali, Raymond, Mike Riley for their efforts in putting the best representative side in CW tourney. We also thank Jarrar Jaffari (Secretary of the CW Board) and Ram Narayan (President of CTCL (Austin)) with the rest of the CW Board, for their contributions at the Central West Tournament 2008 which was a success.
A special acknowledgement also goes out to the UNM team for its dedication and desire to play cricket, and to be part of CCL. We also thank them for the open invitation to any CCL team to play in New Mexico. At the same time, I would also like to thank LCC for making the trip down to New Mexico and playing there.
We also want to thank our Sponsors such as TEK Systems, MetLife Insurance, Law Office of Ravi Kanwal, DISH/Zee (thru DreamCricket), DirecTV (thru Elephant Marketing). We need to be able to get our other CCL players and community members that have their own business to advertize with CCL too, and support CCL's initiatives.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the EC members, with a special thank you to Suresh Talatoti(VP) who came in towards the near end of the season, and did an awesome job on taking care of the tasks at hand.
We have continued to build on the previous season’s successes and I am confident too that we as a League will continue to grow in Colorado.
