Weekly Match Summary Reports

Premier:
------------------------------------------------------------
RBCC at CSCC
...........
RBCC captain's report:
What a wonderful game of cricket! This was the de facto championship game & was expected to have all the ingredients of a grand finale. CSCC won the toss & sent RBCC in to bat. CSCC struck early blows as RBCC lost Faiq & Misbah in the first few overs. After 12 overs, RBCC had scored 45 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Middle order (Abbas, Joe & Drumeel) tried to stabilize the innings. Joe played an excellent innings & scored 25 runs before he was run out. Wickets fell at regular interval and CSCC firmed their grip on the game. With around 20 overs to go, RBCC was 73 for 8 and CSCC must be feeling at home. Tahir went in to play out the remaining overs but he then also got out at 98 runs on board. CSCC needed just 1 more wicket to wrap up RBCC innings well under 100 runs. With 9 more overs to go, Ishan & Altaf were at the crease. CSCC tried different bowling options but both players showed tremendous sense of responsibility & determination to play out the full 40 overs. They both remained not out with Ishan scoring 22 & Altaf 20 runs. This last wicket partnership turned the table & RBCC was able to post a fighting target of 139 runs. From CSCC, Swadeep took 4 & Abhay 2 wkts.

CSCC started the run chase and soon realized that they are up against the lethal bowling strength of RBCC. Noman & Altaf were once again on target. CSCC batsmen had no answer for RBCC's disciplined bowling attack. Whenever they tried to score runs, they lost wickets. Noman once again proved too good & clean bowled Kervyn. Altaf was bowling yorkers with deadly accuracy and CSCC batsmen had no option but to block it. After loosing couple of wickets, CSCC was forced to go on defensive & runs dried down. Ishan came in to bowl & CSCC batsmen danced to his swing bowling. Drumeel, Tahir & Aamer further tightened RBCC's grip on the game. Half way through the innings, CSCC had scored only 43 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. From CSCC, Narayan was the top scorer with 19 runs. Vikas & Swadeep were sent in to accelerate the scoring rate. Suresh took an excellent catch to remove Vikas. Altaf bowled his trademark in-swing delivery & uprooted Swadeep's middle stump. RBCC's fielding was again top notch & no easy runs were allowed. Faiq was once again phenomenal behind the stumps. Misbah (while fasting) was instrumental in the field. Joe took an awesome one-handed running catch. With 2 wickets remaining, Noman was brought back into the attack. He took 2 wickets on consecutive deliveries and CSCC was all out for 87 runs in the 33rd over. This was RBCC's first victory against CSCC. RBCC is now undefeated for 10 consecutive games. Noman took 4 & Tahir 2 wkts. We would like to recognize Suresh for his tremendous support, playing as RBCC's 12th man and being part of this memorable event. He further strengthened RBCC by coming in as a fielding substitute for entire innings. RBCC tigers are now deservingly CCL '09 champions. GO TIGERS!!

MOM: Ishan for scoring 22 valuable runs and taking a wicket.

..............
CSCC captain's report:
CSCC won the toss and elected to bowl since the pitch was a little wet. The match was delayed by 50 mins. CSCC were on top of RBCC batsmen. RBCC were reeling at 77/8. The last two partnership took them to 138. Joe, Ishan and Altaf were the main contributors.
CSCC were pretty content with keeping RBCC to 138, but RBCC had the momemtum going their way. CSCC innings started badly with scoreboard reading 1-1 and 2 - 15. CSCC kept losing wickets at one end and also losing them at regular intervals. Narayan was occupying the other end, but runs did not come easy. RBCC bowled really good line and length and kept a tight lease on CSCC batsmen. Noman in particular was bowling really well. Finally CSCC were bundled out for 87.
Ishan Rao was MoM for his good batting to put up a defendable score and also for his good bowling.
Congrats RBCC for a very good win and also for winning the championship this year.

UNM at LCC
.............
LCC captain's report:
On yet another hot day, LCC met UNM on a back to back encounter. After a convincing victory, LCC knew that UNM was going to bounce back.
LCC lost the toss and was put to field first. Kiran and Sundeep started with some fire by taking 1 wicket each on their respective overs. UNM were 6/2. Wickets kept falling early on. At first drinks UNM were 47/4. That is when Dharmesh and Amitabh came in and they consolidated the innings very well. Dharmesh was his usual and Amitabh achored the innings. LCC bowlers did a good job restricting UNM to 151.
With 152 to win, LCC lost their first wicket in the second over when Ramesh was bowled once again to a nice inswinger. Dharam and Kiran looked good just when a misunderstanding had Dharam run out off a direct hit from midwicket. Kiran fell to a LBW decision. Joy and Sundeep also feel cheaply. Yasir once again held one end when he threw his wicket trying to clear the 30 yards. LCC thought it was the end. Jignesh and RC played a wonderful 9th wicket partnership. Jignesh played his best innings and was well supported by Bhavya. LCC has a grimmer of hope with only 6 runs to win when Dharmesh got Jignesh bowled. That was the end of what was a nail biting and exciting game. LCC thought they had it but credit goes to UNM for some great fielding and discplined bowling.
Man of the match was given to Amitabh Thehran for his 42 odd runs and 2 wickets.

........................
UNM captain's report:
UNMCC won the toss and elected to bat. They lost 2 early wickets and were on back-foot right away. Mukesh and Srikanth tried to repair the innings but Srikanth got out to a poor shot off Ramesh. Before long, UNM lost another wicket. Amitabh(40) and Mukesh(35) played well and kept the scoreboard ticking, but Mukesh was removed by the 14 year old Bhavya. Dharma then joined Amitabh and scored a quick 15 adding momentum to UNMCC’s innings. Tail-enders gave good support to Amitabh and UNMCC managed a very decent total of 152/8 in 40 overs.
LCC too started off losing an early wicket and when Dharam was looking good, he got run out to a nice throw by Anirudh. From then, LCC lost wickets at regular intervals and never looked to win the game until they lost their 8th wicket. LCC were 90-odd for 8 and then Jignesh attacked UNMCC with some powerful hits and it looked like LCC will win the game. Then they lost their 9th wicket to smart bowling by Ashwin. This is when they needed around 20 runs with lot of overs to spare and with one wicket in hand. Bhavya played superbly under pressure and when they needed 6 runs to win Dharma removed Jignesh’s stumps to close the match. UNMCC won by 5 runs. All the bowlers in UNMCC bowled well and contributed towards the win with some good support from fielding.
MoM: Amitabh for scoring 40 runs and taking 2 wickets.

LCC captain's report:
On what was a hot day, the two teams met for some wonderful cricket. LCC won the toss and decided to bat. Ramesh got bowled on the first legal ball. Dharam played with full confidence. First time opening this season and went for some cracking shots. Yasir gave fantastic support by rotating the strike. Dharam cruised to 50 in no time when he got out. Vishal and Kiran scored some quick fire 20s as Yasir held one side till the end. LCC set 207 as a winning target.
LCC started of well when they got Dharmesh out early on. Kiran and Shailesh opened the bowling. Wickets kept falling and UNM was never able to settle in the game. Kiran, Vishal, Ramesh, Sundeep all took wickets to get UNM bundled for 105 runs.
Kiran got the man of the match for his quick fire 28 and taking 2 wickets in his 4 overs conceeding only 9 runs from them.

.....................
UNM captain's report:
LCC won the toss and elected to bat. Though they lost an early wicket, Dharam and Yasir played brilliantly with Dharam (51) scoring a quick 50 before being ran out. LCC scored at a healthy rate and even though they lost wickets regularly, they were in a good shape with Yasir (34) holding one end. Kiran scored a quick 28 in the end to take LCC to a score of 205.
With a weak batting line up, UNMCC had a big total to chase in front of them. They lost Dharma early on with some smart piece of bowling by Sailesh. They lost their wickets regularly and never were in a position to win. Ashwin (24) scored some good-looking shots but did not receive any support from the other end. In the end UNMCC was allout for 100-odd runs.
MoM: Kiran for scoring 28 runs and taking 2 wickets.
