Weekly Match Summary Reports

LCC @ CCCC - 24-July-2010 - Reported by Dharam Patel(LCC)

CCCC hosted LCC at Longmont this week and this match was probably one of the craziest matches this season. CCCC won the toss and elected to bat first opening with Rohith and Gautam. The LCC opening bowlers just didn't seem to get there usual breakthrough early which seemed odd but on the other they were containing the runs which was putting pressure on the batsmen. Gautam was dropped two overs before drinks and was hesitant playing the slower bowlers while Rohith was going about his normal shots. Rohith and Gautam played well through the first drinks but LCC were still quite content with only 40 odd runs at drinks. After drinks LCC managed there first breakthrough with Vishal getting Gautam out caught. Shortly after when Rohith was on 48 he found himself skying a shot straight up to short midwicket off Shailesh and after that wicket the momentum switched sides. CCCC were 70 no loss and quickly went down to 71 for 3 when Rama tried to tickle one down fine off Vishal only to find the hands of Dharam who took a superb catch down the leg. Tim came in played streaky and left early by cutting one to gully and a nice reflex catch by Gareth. The only batsmen to really seem to take CCCC over three digits would have been Chetan who also lost his wicket cheaply by moving towards the off stump thinking the ball would go wide down leg but really finding the leg stump! Soon after that wicket LCC finished CCCC all out with only 96 runs on the board with Shailesh and Vishal taking 5 wickets a piece!

LCC opened with Gareth and Joy and the two had an easy target to build a foundation for the rest of the lineup. The two played well till the 5th over when Gareth was yorked and shortly after Joy snicked one to the keeper. It was up to Ramesh and Dharam to being their team back into the game which they did. Ramesh played some great pulls off Rohith and the two rotated strike well. Dharam opened himself up with a four over mid off and the two played through first drinks looking to take the match away. After drinks Dharam hit a six and four in the over and Ramesh went about his normal shots. Soon after when the score was 55 Dharam mistimed a shot to long off and the very next ball Ramesh snicked one to the keeper which also could have been debatable. LCC needed 40 more runs for victory with still batting to come. Tapas played well and contributed 15 odd runs but at the other end LCC was losing wickets. It all became interesting when LCC needed only 8 runs. They lost Venesh and right away Raj. So CCCC were needing one wicket and LCC 8 runs. The LCC captain went out and with already a good day with the ball needed to see his team through. Shailesh rotated strike to Bhodhayan, lowering the target to 7 runs. Again another single. 6 runs needed. One two and LCC had Bhodhayan on strike with 4 runs to go. Next ball bowled by Sam George and the ball was airlifted over the boundary for a victorious six! What a match! We saw everything today from a great hard earned knock by Rohith to 2 bowlers getting 5 wickets to partnership that could have taken the match away early to a nail biting finish which ended with a six! Great match played all the way through. Congrats to both sides for playing hard!

MoM was Shailesh for taking 5 wickets, one of them the dangerous Ro, and getting that one crucial run to get a batsmen on strike to finish the match! Congrats!

CCB @ CSCC - 24-July-2010 - Reported by Kervyn Dimney(CSCC)

CSCC scorecard 207 for 4 in their alloted overs, with Kervyn Dimney's 81 and Rohit Shah's 54, his maiden helf-century. After the first wicket falling at around 54 runs, Kervyn & Rohith had nearly a 135 run partnership for the 2nd wicket, with both of them then departing around the 39th over. For CCB, Moorthy was their successful bowler with 2 wickets.

CCB were all out for 81 runs, with Narayan Madabusi being CSCC's strike bowler, and yet again achieving a FIVER. Akhil & Monami too bowled decent spells and captured a couple wickets.

Kervyn Dimney was declared the Man of the Match.

RBCC @ FCCC - 24-July-2010 - Reported by Mike Riley(FCCC)

FCCC won the toss and elected to field, even though the pitch was still damp from the sprinklers being on overnight. RBCC’s opening batsmen, Faik and Misbah, did a sterling job of aggression against Dipal and Nadeem, with a partnership of 46 in 8 overs. Then the momentum changed with Rajesh and Gopal bowling tight spells, and between them taking 7 wickets in the next 15 overs. Joseph launched a counterattack, with a rapid 34 off 23 balls. Omer chipped in with 2 wickets, and the last wicket fell on 112, a disappointing total for RBCC after the strong start.

In reply RBCC struck early, with Ganesh being bowled for 1. Gopal batted well until being given out yet again for a highly dubious decision. Dipal and Riley stabilized the FCCC innings, with a 30 run partnership, but the nail in the coffin for RBCC was Kit coming in at number 8. With 17 runs to get in 4 overs, Kit dispatched the RBCC bowlers for all 17 runs in a mere 10 balls, with a flurry of boundaries.

Gopal was declared the Man of the Match.
