2012 Home Real Estate T16 Match Reports - Week 1 (7-8 Apr 2012)

WEEK 1

GROUP A

Saturday 4/7/2012 Anchors vs Orchards at Country Field Park, Erie - Reported by Manoj Gangwar(Orchards)

Anchors got off to a good slow start for the opening partnership but two quick wickets in the 7th over put a break on the scorecards and Orchards team began to control the game since then.
Prabodh and Dixit had steadied the innings after the early wobble but they were unable to score rapidly against a decent Orchards attack. Prabodh, however, using his unorthodox style started
to gain momentum by finding gaps but his brave efforts couldn’t last long. He was bowled trying to slog a full length delivery from Murugesh. Murugesh along with Pandey (who took 4 wickets each)
kept maintaining the pressure on the Anchors batsmen which helped them successfully dismiss all of the Anchors batsmen for 81 runs.

Defending a low total is always a tough ask in the shorter version of the game and that’s what happened to Anchors right from the get-go. With a little over 5 runs required per over, all Orchards
team had to do was hold on to the wickets and take advantage of the loose balls. A quick wicket in the second over got Anchors team some hope but a solid 60 runs partnership between Anand and
Murugesh left the home team out of the game. Anand swiped his way to a less than runner ball 49 which included two huge sixes over long-on made an immediate impact to set-up an easy win over
Anchors in the season opener.
