Premier League - Match Reports - Week 3 (9-10 June 2012)

LCC @ CCB: Premier game, June 10, 2012 - Reported by Raj Chitikila(LCC)
The LCC-CCB fixture was the first game on the newly expanded and resurfaced pitch at Cornerstone Park. The pitch was recently extended by 6 feet on each end and by 2 feet on the sides. A new carpet replaced the old shabby one and made for excellent playing conditions.

LCC won the toss and elected to bat. CCB bowled well--particularly Suri (4 wickets), Trishul (3), and Satyam (2)--to keep LCC from accelerating. LCC was bowled out in the 40th over for a mediocre 151, due in part to some excellent deep catches, especially by Satyam and Venki. Ramesh Menon was the top scorer with 31. Trishul bowled an economical 8-1-15-3. Unfortunately, CCB ended up giving away 34 extras.

Faced with an achievable target, CCB got off to a disastrous start. Raj struck twice in the 2nd over of the innings with CCB having mustered just one run. Satyam and Mayur looked to consolidate the innings, but Jay induced an outside edge from Satyam with a beautiful swinging delivery. Manjeet came in and began to settle down, but got out when Shailesh held on to a bullet of a drive off Bodhayan's bowling. From then on, LCC held on to the initiative and bowled well to get regular wickets and dismiss CCB for 76 runs. Jay and Raj had 3 wickets each, and Bodhayan ended up with fine figures of 4-1-7-2.

Man of the Match: Raj Chitikila was declared MoM.
