Twenty20 League - Match Reports - Week 9 (18-19 Aug 2012)

FRCC-B Vs CSCC - Twenty20 Match - 18-Aug-2012 Longmont - Reported by Raymond Mascarenhas(CSCC)

FRCC 149 (Jigar 50+, Tej 40+) beat CSCC 102 (Dan 29) by 47 runs.

-----

Reported by Murali Krishna Nallamothu(FRCC-B)

The game was important to both the teams with a play-off berth hanging on the balance.

FRCC-B won the toss and chose to bat. Sriram and Pratik ensured that FRCC got off to a good start. Narayan was introduced into the attack and he immediately picked up the wicket of Pratik and Sriram followed soon. Jigar and Tej started rebuilding the innings never letting a chance to steal a few runs go by. As the innings drew to a close, both players opened up by scoring some big ones. Jigar got to his maiden 50 and Tej was unlucky to have missed one by 3 runs. Narayan was easily the best bowler for CSCC.

CSCC's chase started off on a wrong note when Kervyn's wicket fell early on as Ritesh took both the openers' wickets. Rob and Dan steadied the innings; while the former counter-attacked immediately, the latter slowly started opening up. However, brilliant medium pace bowling by Murali put brakes on CSCC's scoring and that forced some bad shots from both the batsmen. Late assault by Sharanbir brought some hope to CSCC but with his wicket, FRCC eased through to a very important victory.

Jigar was declared MoM for his 51 runs

BCC Vs UNM - 19-Aug-2012 - Memorial Park - Reported by Keyur Amin(BCC)

BCC won the toss and elected to bat. Amit Gandhi and Praveen Shenoy opened the innings for BCC. Amit started the innings with a 4 from the first ball. However, on the third ball, Praveen was bowled out by Prabhakar with a very good in-swinging yorker. Then came Myles Osborne. Amit and Myles put up a decent 27 run steady partnership until Amit was caught by Manoj playing a loose shot. Next men in was Samuel Butler. Before Samuel could get going Myles was caught behind by Anand. Keyur Amin came in at 45 on the board. Keyur and Samuel put a decent partnership of 30 runs. Both Keyur and Samuel got out in the same over from Ravi. On the crease were Benjamin George and Utpal Amin. In the next over, Benjamin hit Ashwin for two huge sixes over square leg and mid wicket, respectively. Benjamin was caught out in the next over by Tarun. After Benjamin, the tail tried their best to support Utpal Amin, with a final score of 115/9. Impressively, every bowler from UNM got atleast one wicket.

Anand and Tarun opened the inning for UNM and Utpal opened the bowling for BCC. Utpal started off with a couple of wides down the leg, but quickly bounced back with a wicket of Tarun. Sanjay came in next and before he could stabilize his innings, was run out by a sharp throw from Matt. Srikanth was looking very dangerous by hitting 3 4s in 5 balls, but a sharp outswinger from Narender got him out. BCC didn't allow any other batsmen to stay on the crease for long. BCC bowlers kept taking wickets at regular interval with very good fielding from all its players. Rajat tried his best with his 18, but wasn't enough in the end. UNM ended up with 81/8 in 20 overs.

MoM was given to Keyur Amin for his 4-0-12-4 bowling and a quick 20 runs battings inning.

FCCC@YCC: T20, Lincoln, Fort Collins, Aug 18, 2012 – Reported by Anirudha Deshpande(YCC)

On a surprisingly pleasant summer day, YCC hosted FCCC for a T20 game at Fort Collins. FCCC still in contention for top 4 finish, won the toss and elected to bat. Omar Rafiq and Naveen Kumar started the inning for FCCC. Both the batsmen were in good touch punishing the bad balls. Omar was in good touch hitting 4 sixes before getting out to Naval, a sharp catch by Asish at Mid off. Naveen continued to build his inning making useful partnerships with the FCCC middle order and scored a well compiled half century (53 runs). Mike Riley played composed inning in the end scoring run a ball (25 runs). FCCC scored 147 runs in allotted 20 overs.

With required run rate over 7 run, YCC opening batsmen Venkat (16 runs) and Sampath (18 runs) made really good start. Both batsmen ran aggressively and hitting boundries almost every over. The first bowling change for FCCC did the trick. Matt Collins got rid of Sampath on very first ball and Naval on fourth ball which turned out be excellent bowling spell for Matt (4 overs, 3 wickets). Niyaz played good, aggressive knock scoring 35 run in 25 balls hitting 4 boundries. But it was little too late and YCC managed to score 109 in 20 overs and lost the mtach by 38 runs.

Man of the Match – Naveen Kumar for his half century.

UNM Vs CCCC - Twenty20 Match - 18-Aug-2012 Memorial Park - Reported by Sandeep Bollampally(CCCC)

UNM won the toss and elected to bat first against CCCC in the T20 match played at Memorial Park on Saturday. Rama Bharadwaj (1/8) gave CCCC a good start by picking up the important wicket of Srikant early, having him well caught by Matthew in the covers. Rama and Venu Garuda (0/8) kept things quite for the first 6 overs with some disciplined bowling when just 16 runs were scored. Anand (19) and Anirudh (35) then stitched together a good partnership before Anirudh was run-out, which helped Vaidy (2/13) and Sandeep (0/13) to put the pressure back on UNM again with some tight bowling. Mayur (17*) and Ashwin (12*) ended the UNM innings on a positive note with quick cameos taking the score to 106 in the allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a challenging target, CCCC started strong with 25 runs being scored in the opening over. Sandeep (63) attacked the bowling and with the help of Mantha (24*), put on a quick 77 run opening stand. At the fall of Sandeep's wicket, Ashish (12*) walked in to bat and he and Mantha played intelligently to ensure that there were no further hiccups in the run-chase- CCCC thereby registering their first successive wins of the season by 9 wickets and 10.5 overs to spare. Ashwin (1-13) was the pick of the UNM bowlers.

Sandeep Bollampally was declared MoM.
