Twenty20 League - Match Reports - Week 10 (27-28 June 2015)

FCCC @ CCCC: T20 Match, June 27, 2015 - Reported by Sandeep Bollampally (CCCC)

CCCC won the toss and elected to bat first on a clear, sunny morning. Tight bowling form Naveen (3/11), Omer (1/3) and Gautam (0/15) reduced CCCC to 35/4 after the first 10 overs. A brief fightback from Cecil (20), Sam (21) and Prashant (10) helped CCCC reach a fighting score of 90/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Ravi Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-33-4.

In reply, FCCC got a good start courtesy Gopal (33*) and Ravi Sajjan (20). A good spell from Satya (4-0-15-3) got CCCC back into the match as FCCC needed 50 runs in the last 10 overs with 6 wickets in hand but FCCC simply had too much batting firepower left as they somewhat inverted their batting order and in the end, they won comfortably by 5 wickets.

Man of the Match: Ravi Sharma was adjudged MoM for his bowling spell.

FRCC @ CCB: T20 Game, Jun 27, 2015 - Reported by Gaurav Mittal (CCB)

CCB vs FRCC, second game of the day, CCB riding on high confidence with a strong win earlier in day and wants to climb up the points table; FRCC unbeaten in tournament so far is all set to continue rampage.

Toss!! Ah.. Rajesh, this time chose to field on his own 
FRCC opened with Amal and Vivek. Smart presence of mind from Satyam caught Vivek short of bowling crease on his second run attempt and Vamshi’s tempting out swinger induced false shot from Amal. FRCC was 2-4 after first over. Murali too foxed by Manjeet went back with score 3-17. CCB are just hunting jaguars on the field. Rohit (18) and Shashank (27) took rebuilding task but were constantly bogged down by assailing bowling from Satyam and Viren. Rohit did hoiked Viren over Long on for a six, but was out caught and bowled on the very next ball (FRCC 4-50). Shashank did showed patience but was run out just before changing gears. It took a brilliant direct throw from Aashish to catch him short of popping crease. CCB kept the pressure on and FRCC could score only 95.

Easy isn’t. Should be another early finish for CCB, but FRCC is still unbeaten in the tournament for a reason. And the reason is CCB 1-5, 2-10, 3-11, 4-11, 5-13, 6-17 by the end of 6th over. Arunachalam (4-0-8-3) and Avinash (4-0-18-4) created havoc with swing and pace. CCB now tasted own medicine. Appeared to be done deal for FRCC, Deepak (23) and Siva (14) had other intentions, Deepak took the attack back while Siva kept milking from other end. Both took CCB to 56 before Murali’s spectacular fielding had Deepak run out. Soon Siva too was held out in deep with CCB 8-61 in 16th over. Aashish too knocked out and score 9-65 in 17th over.

Equation 31 off 23 balls with last pair, surely FRCC was thinking after match celebrations. Hari played out the 17th over, need 31 off 18. Here comes Viren, a gigantic hit over long on for a six, next ball a ginormous six over cow corner. Hari played out the remaining over ensuring no loss of wicket. Phew!! 14 needed off 12. Viren on strike, we saw a fluent cover drive for 4 and ginormous + gigantic six over long off. Scored level at the end of 19th over. It needed a wide from Murali for a daring win by CCB. CCB won by 1 wicket.

Man of the Match: Viren Kaleskar for his daring spectacular performance ensuring CCB’s victory.

BCC @ CCB: T20 Game, Jun 27, 2015 - Reported by Gaurav Mittal (CCB)

CCB vs BCC, it’s a double header day, CCB wants to make the first game quick and BCC is up for the challenge.
Toss again went against Rajesh’s call, CCB was put into field.
CCB had 2 youngsters making debut Aakash and Vinay, good opportunity to make in their mark in first game.

BCC inning begins and 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 within couple of overs. Vamshi and Manjeet miserly ticked away 6 overs with just a score of 3-18. Ben (21) came in and showed resistance to good bowling attack. Debutant Vinay produced a peach of delivery in his very first over to claim Ben with BCC 5-31. On other end Debutant Aakash bowled Gaurav Patel with a rocket of delivery, soon we see BCC 6-37, 7-39. BCC’s tail wagged taking score to 68.

CCB wanted to finish early, however, some good bowling at start had CCB 2-19, Manjeet and Gaurav back in pavilion cheaply. Satyam (20) and Vamshi (15) took over and ensured CCB cross the line with 9 overs still remaining. Indeed the game wrapped up early. CCB won by 7 wickets.
BCC had no clue against master performance by CCB. CCB played as a champion unit.

Man of the Match: Ben Gorge for his heartening performance in the game.
