Celebrating Kervyn's 6500+ runs and Narayan's 300+ wickets.

CELEBRATING Kervyn Dimney's 6500+ runs

Congratulations are in order to Kervyn Dimney for adding the newest feather to his cap – 6500+ runs! He has been enjoying this sport since childhood, and has become a great cricket player in a wonderful fashion, and his many accomplishments in the game bear testimony to it. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman and Kervyn were teammates at Little Flower High School, Hyderabad, forming a more successful team with their performances in many school matches. Kervyn recalls the bond of friendship with Laxman during their school days, and after that too. See article and a video.

But the friends took different directions long before 2003 - while Laxman faced his devastating exclusion from the World Cup squad, Kervyn started his cricketing journey in CCL as a middle-order batsman and medium-pace bowler for CSCC. Since then Kervyn has donned many roles including Umpire, Captain, Treasurer, President and Selector for CSCC. His achievements with CCL and CSCC are many: The first CCL player to reach 5000 runs, Most Runs, Many centuries, MVP, Best Bowler, Best Batsman, Best All-Rounder awards, Man of the Match and POTW on numerous occasions, etc, etc.

Now an experienced opening batsman for CSCC since 2007, Kervyn loves challenges from fast bowlers, and has scored the bulk of his runs (4500+) in this batting position (see stats). The younger talents in the team rightly leverage his experience to gain knowledge in the nitty-gritty of the game. Apart from the seriousness, the fact that he is so approachable and has an incredible sense of humor doesn’t hurt.

Scoring 6500+ runs is a momentous achievement and this is a good time to look back at the cricketing moments that are the closest to Kervyn’s heart.
Repeatedly falling short of championship in Colorado since 2003, CSCC won the 2005 CCL Knockout Championship against defending champions Fort Collins Cricket Club in an admirable fashion under his captaincy, thru efforts from Abhay Natu and Shadakshari Chikkanna ("Shashi") at the end, and this match will always be special to him. See CSCC wins 2005 CCL Knock Out Championship and The greatest innings of my life.
Another famous CSCC win in which Kervyn’s innings, a wonderful 64, played an important role was against CCCC-Gold in July 2005. See The Perfect Storm - CSCC vs Gold Match Report.
And then his unbeaten 142 against BCC in June 2008 immediately comes to mind. Kervyn, together with Murugappana Meyyappan built up a partnership of 217 for the second wicket and the former’s brilliant knock was peppered with 14 sixes and many boundaries. See A gem of an innings from Kervyn Dimney (142*) in Twenty20 against BCC.

Best All-Rounder/Batsman/Bowler, winning the Knockout Championship, getting featured along with his team on Fox 21 and BBC, CCL’s Top Batsman with the Most Runs since 2011, 6500+ runs now, whew! This page would not be enough to list out Kervyn Dimney’s recognitions in his illustrious journey with CSCC and here’s wishing him a speedy sprint towards 3500 more!

---------------

CELEBRATING Narayan Madabusi's 300+ Wickets

Narayan Madabusi or "Nana" as we all call him, should have reached this milestone on July 16th 2017 when CSCC played YCC. He had 299 wickets to his name and was about to claim his 300th but it was not meant to be for 5 more weeks. Heightened expectations from the team and his family obviously added to the pressure, not only to him but to the fielders too that found ways to mess it up. The week before he achieved his 300-wicket haul, his family had come over to watch him and even a special T-shirt to celebrate this achievement was ordered but fate had other plans. But all is well that ends well, and Nana got his sweet 300th on August 20th, 2017 through an LBW.

Apart from being a brilliant all-rounder, he is also a wise mentor to the team, providing valuable information and tips, so much so that the captain often consults with him for his inputs before taking big decisions.

See Kervyn Dimney's article on Narayan's 300+ wickets accomplishment here.
