2008 CCL Twenty20, Premier & KnockOut Tournament Awards - Updated 12/5/2008 5pm

Kervyn Dimney (CCL President) shines with 4 awards in 2008 season.He was named the "Best Batsman" and "League MVP" for 2008 Premier League, "League MVP" for 2008 Twenty20 League, and "Best All-rounder" for 2008 Twenty20 KnockOut Tournament.

This year we have seen amazing performances from our CCL players who worked very hard through out the season in all of the tournaments. Very important for all of us to see that CCL players have broken some of the international records in T20 particularly.

And coming back to the award selection, it was not at all an easy task for the EC members to pick or choose the awards for the year 2008. But we have picked up the best performances and individuals who really deserve it. So, here are the details and CCL EC congratulates all of the award winners and wish you all the very best for the next season.

2008 Premier League Awards

2008 Premier League Winner: CCCC
2008 Premier League Runner: FCCC


The nominees for Best Batsman are:

1) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC) – Dimney was consistent in all of the tournaments we had this year and he had very good Premier League season with his all round performance. He scored a total of 524 runs from 14 innings with an average of 43.66 which includes 4 fifties and a brilliant century (121*)

2) Rothit Ramkuar (CCCC) – This fluent right handed batsman was always consistent since he joined the league and had a good batting record in 2008 Premier League behind Kervyn. He scored a total to 430 runs from 14 innings with an average of 30.71 which includes 2 fifties with 71 as his highest score.

3) Rupesh Muthayla (LCC) – Rupesh had an excellent season with his all round performance and scored a total of 351 runs from 9 innings with an average of 50.14 which includes 2 fifties and a century (117).

The award goes to: Kervyn Dimney (CSCC)


The nominees for Best Bowler are:

1) Mahesh Sampath (DSCC) – As a senior member of DSCC Sampath leads as a good example of cricketer with disciplined bowling and also with good control of his line and length which made him to become the highest wicket taker for 2008 Premier League season. He took a total of 29 wickets with an economy of 3.32. His best bowling figures for this season was 5/21 with an average of 12.06.

2) Manjukumar Harthikote Matha (CSU) – Matha had a good season with this good medium pace bowling claiming 25 wickets with an economy of 4.43. His best bowling figures for this season was 4/22 with an average of 15.40

3) Rajesh Solanki (CCCC) – As per Solanki’s profile it says “if you are playing against his team its next to impossible that you miss him”, which is true and he brings great energy and enthusiasm to his team. Solanki claimed 24 wickets this season with an economy of 2.99. His best bowling figures were 3/14 with an average of 7.75

The award goes to: Mahesh Sampath (DSCC)


The nominees for Best Rookie are:

1) Shrikanth Desai (RBCC) – Desai is one of the best rookies we have seen this year who has good technique and patience who loves to play at the top order. He had a good first year making a total of 188 runs (with a fifty) and claimed 11 wickets and took 3 catches. His best score was 54 and with 4/17 as his best bowling figures.

2) Niraj Ganjawala (UNM) – Ganjawala is a very consistent batsman who plays at the top order and had a good rookie season. He scored a total to 178 runs and took 3 catches. His top score for this season was 39

3) Drumeel Thakkar (CSU) – Thakkar is a very good all rounder and had an excellent rookie year. He scored a total of 103 runs and claimed 21 wickets also took 6 catches. His best bowling figures were 4/11 for this season and 32 was his highest score.

The award goes to: Drumeel Thakkar (CSU)


The nominees for Best Wicket Keeper/Fielder are:

1) Shobhan Desai (CSCC) - 13 dismissals (8 catches, 5 stumpings)

2) Srikanth Srinivasan (DSCC) - 12 dismissals (12 catches)

3) Rajesh Mosur (CCCC) - 12 dismissals (7 catches, 4 stumpings, 1 run out)

The award goes to: Shobhan Desai (CSCC)


The nominees for Best All-Rounder are:

1) Rupesh Muthyala (LCC): Rupesh had an excellent season with his all round performance and scored a total of 351 runs from 9 innings with an average of 50.14 which includes 2 fifties and a century (117). He was one of the top 3 guys who got most runs this season and claiming 18 wickets

2) Anshu Boonapalli (CCCC): Boonapalli had an excellent season with his all round performance and scored a total of 341 runs from 13 innings with an average of 28.42 which includes 2 fifties. He was one of the top 3 guys who got most runs this season and claiming 11 wickets

3) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC) – Dimney was consistent in all of the tournaments and had very good Premier League season with his all round performance. He scored a total of 524 runs from 14 innings with an average of 43.66 which includes 4 fifties and a brilliant century (121*). He also took 22 wickets with an average of 13.05

2008 T20 Winner: LCC
2008 T20 Runner: CSCC

The nominees for Best Batsman are:

1) Randika Fernando (LCC) – At his sublime best, Fernando had a wonderful season with his batting abilities in the T20 tournament by scoring 515 runs from 11 innings (which includes 4 fifties and a remarkable century averaging 51.5) with 132* as his highest score in any format of the game with CCL carrier.

2) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC) – Dimney had an exceptional season in all of the tournaments this year with his attacking strokeplay at the top of the order for CSCC. He scored 496 runs in the T20 (which includes 3 fifties and a very fine century to remember) with an incredible average of 70.85 from 9 innings. His highest score for this season was 142* and also a carrier high with CCL.

3) Nitin Bharadwaj (FCCC) – As his profile says “He is a big hitter of the ball and can cause a lot of trouble” and yes he did hit big and had a good 2008 season. But he was unlucky to miss his century by 2 runs but making his highest score (98) of his carrier and scoring 378 runs in T20 with an average of 37.8

The award goes to: Randika Fernando (LCC)


The nominees for Best Bowler are:

1) Shashidher Reddy (CSCC) – Reddy was consistent through out the T20 season with his trade mark inswinging deliveries and had 3/7 as his best bowling figures with an average of 12.53 and claiming a total of 17 wickets.

2) Narayan Madabusi (CSCC) – Madabusi was another CSCC bowler who was consistent and competing with his team mate (S.Reddy) for the best bowler award with his swing bowling. He had 4/15 as his best bowling figures with an average of 14.36 and claiming a total of 16 wickets.

3) Amit Bahri (BCC) – Bahri had an excellent second year with his good bowling and have utilized his skills to help BCC win the games. He had 3/23 as his best bowling figures with an average of 14.86 and claiming a total of 14 wickets.

The award goes to: Shashidher Reddy (CSCC)


The nominees for Best Rookie are:

1) Raheel Chaudhry (CCCC) – Chaudhry had a very good rookie season and was the top run getter for the rookies. He Scored a total of 193 runs and took 2 wickets and 2 catches

2) Nishant Soni (BCC) – Soni was very impressive with this debut in CCL and had very good rookie season. He scored a total of 179 runs (79* as his highest score) and took 10 wickets, he also took 5 catches.

3) Sundeep Tirugudu (LCC) – Tirugudu was impressive with his batting performance in T20 as rookie. He scored a total of 140 runs and took 2 catches with no wickets.

The award goes to: Nishant Soni (BCC)


The nominees for Best Wicket Keeper/Fielder are:

1) Anand Bala Prasad (BCC) - 8 dismissals (4 catches, 1 run out, 3 stumpings)

2) Praveen Shenoy (BCC) - 8 dismissas (7 catches, 1 run out)

3) Randika Fernandon (LCC) - 8 dismissals (7 catches, 1 run out)

The award goes to: Anand Bala Prasad


The nominees for Best All-Rounder are:

1) Amit Bahri (BCC): Bahri is one of the best all rounder we have in the league and can take over match with this batting, bowling and fielding abilities. He had an excellent season with his all round performance and scored a total of 366 runs with an average of 91.50 which includes 2 fifties and a century (101*). He also took 14 wickets

2) Parijat (LCC): Parijat is an excellent middle order batsman and an orthodox bowler who had a good T20 season by scoring 205 runs and claiming 11 wickets with an average of 18.00 and 3-16 as his best bowling figures for this season and took a catch.

2) Narayan Madabusi (CSCC) – Madabusi had a good season with this all round performance and scored a total of 147 runs and claimed 16 wickets and took 5 catches

The award goes to: Amit Bahri (BCC)


The nominees for MVP are:

1) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC) – Dimney is the only who completed 1000 runs this year. He scored 496 runs in the T20 (which includes 3 fifties and a very fine century to remember) with an incredible average of 70.85 from 9 innings. His highest score for this season was 142* and also a carrier high with CCL. He also took 11 wickets.

2) Randika Fernando (LCC) – Fernando had a wonderful season with his batting abilities in the T20 tournament by scoring 515 runs from 11 innings (which includes 4 fifties and a remarkable century averaging 51.5) with 132* as his highest score in any format of the game with CCL carrier. As the tournament name itself says “KNOCK OUT”, we had some good performances like a punch and here are the details

T20 KOT Best Batsmen

1) Mehmood Khan (CSCC): Khan scored a total of 195 runs.

2) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC): Dimney scored a total of 114 runs.

3) Aamer Chowdhury (RBCC): Chowdhury scored a total of 108runs

The award goes to: Mehmood Khan (CSCC)


T20 KOT Best Bowler

1) Mehmood Khan (CSCC): Khan took a total 11 wickets from 19.1 overs and giving 101 runs

2) Narayan Madabusi (CSCC): Madabusi took a total 8 wickets from 17 overs and giving 99 runs

3) Aamer Chowdhury (RBCC): Chowdhury took a total 8 wickets from 13.3 overs and giving 77 runs

The award goes to: Mehmood Khan (CSCC)


T20 KOT Best Fielder/Wicket Keeper:

1) Rohith Ramkumar (CCCC): Ramkumar took 3 catches and had 4 run outs

2) Kervyn Dimney (CSCC): Dimney took 4 catches had 1 run out

3) Tahir Rana (RBCC): Rana took 5 catches and had 0 run out

The award goes to: Rohith Ramkumar (CCCC)


T20 KOT Best All-Rounder

Kervyn Dimney (CSCC): For his 114 runs, 7 wickets, 4 catches and a runout.

T20 KOT MVP

Mehmood Khan: (CSCC): Most runs, Most wickets, also with 4 catches and a runout.
