Premier Match Reports - (9-10 Sep 2017)

CSCC vs CCB - Premier 09-10-2017 at Memorial Park, Reported by Jayanth Krishnan(CSCC)

CSCC won the toss and chose to bowl. Bowling has been the strong point of the CSCC squad this season and in spite of Prasanna and Chaithanya not being able to play this match.

CSCC presented CCB with some formidable bowling. Abhay Natu was letting it rip in his opening spell picking up Adarsh(6) and Rinsan(4) cheaply. Eugene was unfortunate to be in the wrong end of a mix up and ended up getting run out by a good under-arm throw from Avinash. CCB lost half their side by the first break at 14 overs and never really got going in their typical fashion.

All the CSCC bowlers exerted pressure on CCB batting picking up wickets regularly. Especially, Kervyn Dimney with figures of 6 overs for 8 runs and 3 wickets running thru the middle order. Steve Pressdee was able to get a wicket on his debut in the Premier League. Abhay ended with 2 wickets, while Hamayun, Avinash and Vamsi picked up a wicket. Except Kamal Ponday(27) and Bhaskar Nayak(16), no other CCB batsmen were able to get into double figures, and CCB was all out for 82 in 30 overs.

CSCC started off the chase with Kervyn scoring a boundary of the first ball and Sandeep on the other end picking off ones and twos. Kervyn, however succumbed to the trap set by Eugene getting caught at long on. Sandeep, Narayan and Abhijit fell in quick succession. But with only 40 odd runs to score, Jayanth(21 with 3 sixes) and Hamayun(11) finished it off with some hefty blows and securing a win for CSCC by the 20th over. Narander Chaudhary bowled well with analysis of 7-0-18-3.

Man of the Match: Kamal Ponday

FRCC at CCCC: Premier game - Saturday 9-Sep-2017 – Reported by Rohit Saini(FRCC)

CCCC hosted FRCC for a P40 game this past weekend. It was a must win game for both the teams to secure a play-off berth.

FRCC’s captain Rohit won the toss and decided to bat first.

FRCC started with Sumeet and Abhinav, both started cautiously, playing out the swing and tight lines by Cecil and Sandeep and adding 38 runs in first 10 overs. Mansoor picked up Abhinav (15) and Manohar (0) in the 12th over to make it 47 for 2. Sanket joined in next, Sumeet on the other end, was well-set by now and started playing freely and kept the scorecard ticking. Satya picked up Sanket (9) to make it 85 for 3 in 20 overs. Rohit joined in next. Sumeet completed another half century and kept scoring on the bad balls, which gave time to Rohit, who was struggling to score anything on the other end, to settle down.

At the end of the second drinks break FRCC were 125 for 3 in 27 overs. Game still evenly poised, CCCC started the last session with twin spin attack of Vaidy and Mike. In the next 4 overs, FRCC added 42 runs which changed the momentum of the game completely. Fast bowlers were brought in again and Mansoor picked up 2 more wickets in Sumeet 95 (100b 8x4 3x6) and Subhashish (5) in consecutive overs. By now FRCC were well placed, but the final assault came in the last 3 overs of the game. In a matter of 11 balls, Rohit cleared the boundaries 7 times for 7 huge sixes, to take the score from 200 to 250+.

Cecil bowled Rohit in the last over on 98 (64b 1x4 10x6), 2 runs short from the magic number. FRCC finished up with 257/6 in 40 overs. Mansoor was the pick of the bowlers for C4 picking up 4 wickets, Cecil and Satya got 1 wicket each.

CCCC were rocked early with 2 quick wickets of Ashish (6) and Bhupi (1), both got bowled by Subhashish and Murali respectively. Srini (21) and Anil (19) came in next with a positive intent, both played a good hand and played some good strokes but didn’t last long.

Praveen and Mike dropped anchor after that, played out the next 11 overs adding 32 runs. Abhinav got the reward for some good off break bowling and picked 3 quick wickets in Mike (9), Sandeep (6) and Cecil (1) to make it 102 for 7 in 26 overs. Praveen (24) was next to go, picked up by Chari and good cameos by Mansoor (24) and Vaidy (39) were not enough in the end.

CCCC were bundled out for 180 runs and FRCC won the game by 70 odd runs. Abhinav was the pick of the bowlers for FRCC picking up 4 wickets.

Man of the Match: Rohit Saini for his amazing knock of 98 (64b 1x4 10x6).
